My Experience with Mitchell Bros 4 x 4
As a novice 4 x 4 enthusiast, who has a very strong desire to travel the length and breadth of Australia in the coming years, I set about setting up my Touring vehicle.
To achieve this I was searching for a business that would offer me:
- practical guidance
- unbiased views
- deliver a quality and timely service consistently,
- and be competitively priced
Since March 2009, I have had a number of modifications done to my touring vehicle, which I bought second hand: a 2005 Nissan Patrol 3.0 ST Manual.
In addition to a range of modifications from Front Lockers to a Long Range fuel tank fitted, I have now had a 45000 km service undertaken, and based on all my collective experiences over the past year or so, I will be strongly recommending Mitchell Bros 4 x 4. They have met my objectives repeatedly.
Most recently Mitchell Bros were most innovative in creating and completing an upgraded lighting arrangement at the rear of the truck. There will be pictures on their web site of this configuration and I am most pleased with the outcome.
Kind Regards

Though I have only had my Pro Comp Mud Terrains for a bit over a year and have only put around 7000km on them (much of it off road), I can say with confidence that they are so far the best off road tire I have ever owned.
In the past I have run BFG Mud Terrains, and am currently running Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ's on my other truck, both of which I have had good success with and regard as good quality tires. When the time came to put new tires on my recently purchased Sierra I had intended to go down the same road again, until I had a long chat with Aaron and the boys at Mitchell Bros who suggested Procomp. Having heard of Procomp but knowing very little about them I found disappointingly little info on them in terms of what other owners thought of them, and how they compared to the more main stream brands. In truth I had my reservations about trying them out, but Mitchell Bros swore by them and the price was right so I ordered a full set of five in a 30x9.5x15, fitted to some black steel Rockcrawler rims. I am very glad I did.
Though it can perhaps be argued that the Procomp doesnt have the visual sex appeal of some of the more well known mud terrains, the understated design gives the very accurate impression that these tires are all business. As a relatively new member of the Suzuki Club of NSW, I am always meeting new members on club trips, and as the only one (that I have met) running Procomps the tires get plenty of attention. Matched with the black rims they look sharp, but the real interest comes from their performance as they often seem to contribute to the Sierra out performing other larger or more modified trucks at various stages. The deep lugs make for for inspiring traction in most conditions, and at lower pressures the tires flex well, wrapping around and gripping rocks and tree roots even on a light vehicle such like the Sierra. So far they seem to be tough as well, with no obvious chipping cuts or gouges evident in the tread or side walls. The beads seem to hold well at low pressures even when you are working the side walls hard in ruts or on rocks and so far have sealed well against the ingress of small rocks, mud etc.
On road the Mud Terrains ride well. Handling is good and predictable in both wet and dry conditions, and the loss of traction only seems to come when the effort is put in to exceed their limits. Even then the tires do a good job of letting you know its coming and recover traction quickly once you have corrected. As with all MT's there is some road noise, but they seem to be on par with other more main stream brands. So far they seem to be wearing very well which can perhaps be expected on a Sierra.
So far I have been unable to fault my Procomp MT's, and if they continue to perform like they have done so far I will definitely look at buying another set.

Hi Aaron and Ben,
We have now done approx 1200klms since the transmission service on my Landcruiser and can only say THANKS for a great job.
The shifting both up and down is now smoother and quieter than it has ever been (even from new) and I cannot get it to reproduce the symptoms as described prior to the service. (Believe me I have tried).
I have no hesitation in recommending you guys and I will be a repeat customer.
Thanks again
Dave
